A Listening Church
St. Matthew's is living into a way of listening to one another as a core part of our identity. In a world where so often we are waiting for our turn to talk, what does it mean to truly listen to someone else? We have five listening and pastoral care ministries here that help members grow as listeners and to be heard in times of crisis, joy, and every day life.
Community of Hope Lay Pastoral Care Ministers
Community of Hope a new listening ministry that is meeting a need for active, compassionate listening by lay ministers. It is rooted in Benedictine spirituality, and a space to deepen one's own spiritual life, community of support, discernment and enrichment. Lay ministers will be provided with ongoing monthly support and formation, and participate in a short course on being present to one another.

Eucharistic Visitors
These ministers bring communion to anyone who is not able to come to church. To request communion or learn more about becoming a Eucharistic Minister please contact Marilyn Grantham.
Meals Ministry
The meals ministry provides those who are sick, have had surgery, or are going through a transition (like a new baby!) with home cooked meals. The whole congregation is invited to participate in cooking. We use Meal Train, a free online meal calendar that helps people organize around providing meals for a member or friend. Making meals is easy, and recipes are easily accesible by googling whatever you'd like to cook. Joan Herschbell and Jane White, coordinators of this ministry, are happy to help anyone who wants to cook with ideas and scheduling.
During Communon, individuals are available to pray with you in the side chapel regarding any healing you may need. This team also prays for requests made through Church Community Builder, email, phone and those on our prayer list in the bulletin. Individual meetings are available, and all requests are held in confidence.
